A while back, I had a little get together and some of the guests who would be attending had gluten allergies. I wanted to make a treat I was sure that they could eat. I ended up settling on these bars and they were a hit with all of my guests. I mean how can you loose with creamy peanut butter, crispy cereal, and a drizzle of chocolate!
Spray a 9 x 9 inch dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Place the Rice Krispies and Chex in a bowl and combine.
In a sauce pan, combine the peanut butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Cook over low heat until all is well combined and sugars have dissolved. This will take a minute or two.
Pour mixture of cereals and combine until cereal is well coated.
Pour mixture into the prepared 9 x 9 pan and press into the pan. Let cool for 5 minutes.
Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 15 – 30 seconds until melted and smooth. Drizzle or pipe the chocolate over the cooled bars.
